Session 1:
How the Program Works

This program is for one year and has two levels. Level 1 lasts for 6 months. During that time you will pursue goals aimed at helping you lose weight and become more physically active. If you’re like most people, you may have had initial success before with losing weight but difficulty in keeping the weight off. That is where level 2 comes in. In Level 2, you will learn new techniques for maintaining your weight loss and physical activity routines. If you commit to these techniques we are confident you will see long term results.

As a member in the program, you will be given a health coach and assigned to a group with other members who are also pursuing a healthier lifestyle. Your health coach is here to help you set goals for activity and nutrition, as well as tackle problems that may be making it difficult to achieve your goals. We have found that people who stay connected with their coach are usually more successful in the program, so please don’t hesitate to reach out!

You can contact your Health Coach at any time via the Expert Channel. They usually get back to you within 24 hours, with the exception of weekends. Your coaches are not here to judge you – they are just here to help.

By the end of the first six months, your goal is to:
  • Lose at least 7%of your starting weight
  • Get at least 150 minutes of physical activity each week; this significantly reduces your diabetes risk independent of its weight loss benefits

By the end of the second six months, your goal is to:
  • Keep off the weight you’ve lost, and lose more weight if you wish.
  • Keep working toward your goal weight, if you haven’t already reached it.
  • Continue to get at least 150 minutes of activity each week.
  • Learn new skills that will help you sustain the lifestyle changes that you have made.
