You may be wondering why your provider wants you to track your health data regularly with Brook.
Studies show the more frequently you take readings such as blood sugar, blood pressure, or weight, the easier it is to maintain your health. Each time you take a reading you give yourself and your care team a piece of the puzzle showing your overall health trends. And with enough puzzle pieces, you can get a good picture of how certain habits affect your health, and simple ways to improve your health become clear. This is where Brook comes in.
Let’s go over three main benefits of tracking regularly:
Health tracking has been shown to increase health-promoting behavior through reinforcement, self-awareness, increased motivation, and better decision making. These benefits lead to improved lifestyle choices and therefore an overall improvement in health.
Looking at one health data reading doesn’t tell us very much about your current health status or how to best support your journey to better health. One reading doesn’t take into account changes over time, or how your daily habits might be affecting those numbers in a positive or negative way. With multiple data points over time, your healthcare provider and Brook’s Health Coaches can give you valuable insights about what’s working and what’s not, and how to make simple changes that can have a big impact on your health and how you feel.
When you start a new medication, start a new exercise routine, or make changes to your diet, it’s important to keep track of your health data to keep yourself safe. For example, a new blood pressure medication might work TOO well and you could end up fainting from low blood pressures. By tracking your data regularly Brook can help make sure you stay in your “safe zone” – the range of numbers that is right for you and your wellbeing when it comes to things like blood sugar, blood pressure, and more.
