Tom was frustrated but not completely surprised by his diagnosis of type 2 diabetes. The eating habits he cultivated in his 20s, 30s, and 40s had stuck with him. And he was also involved in a major car accident that limited his physical activity. For some time he had searched for an uncomplicated way to manage his diabetes but he wasn’t having much luck. This left him thinking: “What do I do now? I still need to manage my diabetes.”
When his insurance company suggested he try Brook he was reluctant at first, assuming it would be similar to the other programs he had tried with little success.
But, right away Tom could tell Brook was different. “After a short time using Brook I came to realize this is the best resource out there. There are no words to describe how much Brook has helped me. It’s given me several tools I use on a daily basis that have really made a positive change in my life. The biggest benefit Brook offers that other resources don’t is personalization. I can communicate with diabetes educators who are extremely helpful with quick responses. They give me useful resources I can refer back to and encouraging comments and suggestions. I haven’t found any resource out there that can offer all of this!”
“There are two ways Brook has helped me take control of my health each day,” says Tom. “First, I use the app to log blood sugar readings, medications, foods, and other health-related activities. This helps me stay on track and meet my daily goals. It’s a great way to know what works. Second, communicating with a diabetes educator who reviews my information and suggests ways I can make adjustments. Together, these two features are extremely empowering and I find it easier to make better choices during the day.”
“While there are days I still struggle with managing my diabetes, at least I know I am not alone. Help is just a click away. There’s nothing to lose, and so much to gain,” he said.
