Preparing healthy meals had always been pretty easy for Patricia. “Exercise is really my downfall,” she said.
But when her doctor decided to increase her hypertension medicine, she decided it was time to make some lifestyle changes – she wanted a way to control her diabetes and hypertension without needing to rely on additional medications in the future.
So Patricia started using Brook in hopes that it would help motivate her to exercise.
She set two goals with the help of Brook’s Experts. One was to walk at least five days a week, either outside or on her treadmill. The other was to check her blood pressure and log the results twice a day, as her doctor had asked her to do while acclimating to her new medication. The walking helped Patricia feel like she was doing something on her own to improve her health, and the blood pressure checks showed her that the combination of lifestyle improvements and medication really was making a difference: her average blood pressure went from 137/84 to 110/70 mm Hg.
“Brook makes me feel proud I’m in charge of my health issues and how they are improving under my own power,” she said. “If I fall off track, which can happen, I just get back on track.
